The Issue with 5G: Safety and Security

We have all been hearing about 5G for quite some time now. Well, in February 2022, it will officially transfer into full effect. This switch has a lot of benefits, but it also has some roadblocks for many businesses.

5G Issues

While 5G offers faster signals and covers a lot of areas, it does not penetrate building materials well.

Sunsetting 3G

In 2022, 3G will no longer be a thing. They are sunsetting the 3G technology that powers a lot of current fire safety systems and security systems. This means that if your building is being protected by systems running with 3G signals, they will no longer work.

We want everyone to keep their people, buildings, and property protected, so we recommend updating those systems sooner rather than later. If you wait till your systems don’t work, you run the risk of being unprotected. Likewise, if you wait until the last minute, it will be hard to find a service provider who has the capacity to update your systems before the switch.

What About 4G?

The good news is that 4G is backward compatible. If your systems are running on 4G, you don’t have anything to worry about in the foreseeable future.
