Technology Install Partners has significant expertise with structured cabling, installing these systems for a range of clients, from sprawling healthcare facilities to multi-campus office campuses, to small businesses. Complex or out-of-the-box, we can scale a project to suit your business’ specific needs.
If you’re not familiar with the structured cabling, it is a building or campus telecommunications cabling infrastructure system that helps prevent downtime. It has many applications including:
...and more.
Structured cabling has become the new standard because it’s just a simpler, cleaner, more reliable process. Trying to remove even a single cable from a tangled wad of cables can cause stress on the other cables and sometimes, incorrect ports become unplugged. Network and channel errors in the hardware can result and are unfortunately, difficult to trace. Airflow that the switch needs to properly function can also be impacted when it is congested with cabling bulk. These kinds of issues are common in traditional point-to-point cabling, which involves running patch cables (or jumpers) directly to and from the hardware.
In a structured cabling setup, cable and port tracing become simple and efficient, saving you quite a few headaches. In a structured cabling system, a structure is created by series of patch panels and trucks (a multi-fiber assembly for use in conveyance) that allows hardware ports to be connected to a patch panel at the top of the rack. That patch panel is then connected to another via a trunk in the main distribution area (MDA). Changes are made in the MDA versus the hardware or via long patch cords from equipment racks, allowing for scalability. Therefore, moves, adds, changes and upgrades are considerably easier to manage. Further, the cabling in front of the switch can remain aesthetically pleasing, as it does not have to be touched. Structured cabling provides you with predictable performance and is designed to handle future technologies as well.
